New Mission
The mission of United Way of Carlisle and Cumberland County has recently been modernized to reflect our current scope of programs and services. Our new Mission is, “To unite people and resources to build a stronger, healthier Carlisle & Cumberland County.” Continuing efforts to identify and document local needs is essential in accomplishing this mission and serving our community. To that end, during the spring and summer of 2011, United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County (UWCCC) undertook a Community Needs Assessment in partnership with the Institute of State and Regional Affairs at Penn State Harrisburg. We used both existing and new data, including focus groups, interviewees and survey participants, to understand the community and its issues. We wish to thank and recognize the G.B. Stuart Charitable Foundation for its financial support of this project. The assessment will increase our understanding of community needs and direct UWCCC in funding for the greatest community impact. The assessment can also serve as a resource for other nonprofit organizations in their strategic development, program planning and grant writing efforts.
