Eight panels made up of 50 to 60 volunteers from the community and the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County Board (representing all donors) make up our Community Impact Panels. They study agency budgets, audits, programs, goals and achievements each year along with our Community Needs Assessment. These volunteers work diligently to determine allocations for the coming year based on the assessments of our community needs, and the proposed partner agency program’s ability to meet that need.
For panelists the process takes a total of about two days. It includes attending an hour and half training in September to learn about the process and meet with fellow panel members to determine dates that work for everyone to conduct tours. Then the panelists will need six to eight hours for onsite tours, budget presentations, and funding recommendation meetings which occur mid-October through Thanksgiving. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the human service needs of our community and the programs that make a difference.
If you are interested in serving on a panel and have not previously done so, please contact Community Impact Director Jason Maddux at 717-243-4805 or [email protected].
Thank you!
