United Way Campaign Raises $1,470,433 for the Community

Change Doesn’t Happen Alone!

CARLISLE, PA – The United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County announced on January 15th at its Campaign Celebration sponsored by Giant Food Stores that it raised $1,470,433 through current and expected pledges to support community-based programs. This figure surpassed the $1,455,000 fundraising goal announced by 2019 Campaign Co-Chairs Mindy Loftus and Reed VanDerlyke of Orrstown Bank in September.

In addition to announcing the totalsUnited Way awarded special recognition to several top-performing companies, including Allen Distribution, Tuckey Companies, and Carlisle Area School District, with the Campaign Award of Excellence for Mid-Sized, Small, and Large Company, respectivelyAlso receiving recognition was Sadler Health Center, Most Improved Award andCarlisle Area School District’s Ashley T. Knight & Ellie ParkOutstanding Campaign Coordinator Award.

Division Chairman Awards were presented to UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle, Carlisle Family YMCA, Tuckey Companies, Orrstown Bank, Dickinson College, Keen Transport, Mountz Jewelers, Allen Distribution and Frog, Switch & Manufacturing Company. 

The winner of thegrand prize Travel United package sponsored by M&T Bank was Marina Matthew from Claremont Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center, County of Cumberland. 

As is the case every year, the dollar total announced includes contributions already turned in or reported, as well as estimated or conservative projected final figures on several campaigns still underway. About 90 percent of the campaign has been processed or officially reported. The remaining amount is expected and must be finalized in the next few months.

Next year’s Campaign Co-Chairs are Patrick Bartoli of Bartoli, Seig, & Metz at Morgan Stanley and Adam Shaffer of Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory

The United Way provides funding to 39 local programs operated by 25 non-profit partner agencies working to address the community’s most pressing needs. In addition to funding programs, the United Way provides heating assistance, pre-k educational scholarships, discounted medical prescription cards, and the Success By 6 initiative.
