We Are Celebrating!

The United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County announced on February 8th, at their Campaign Thermometer in front of the Cumberland County Courthouse, that it raised $1,427,530 through current and expected pledges to support community-based programs. This figure surpassed the $1,323,390 fundraising goal announced last October by 2020 Campaign Co-Chairs Patrick Bartoli of Morgan Stanley and Adam Shaffer of Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematorium .

“Thousands of families in Carlisle & Cumberland County depend on health and human service programs funded by United Way,” said Lucy Zander, Executive Director. “Our 2020 goal was to raise as much money for our community as possible and to provide much needed help to support our community and to continue funding local programs.”

United Way would also like to give recognition to several top-performing companies, including Allen Distribution, Tuckey Companies, and UPS Carlisle, with the Campaign Award of Excellence for Mid-Sized, Small, and Large Company, respectively Additionally recognizing Division Chairman Winners to UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle, Carlisle Family YMCA, Tuckey Companies, M&T Bank, Dickinson College, Keen Transport, Mountz Jewelers, Allen Distribution and Frog, Switch & Manufacturing Company.

As is the case every year, the dollar total announced includes contributions already turned in or reported, as well as estimated or conservative projected final figures on several campaigns still underway. About 90 percent of the campaign has been processed or officially reported. The remaining amount is expected and must be finalized in the next few months.

The United Way provides funding to 38 local programs operated by 24 non-profit partner agencies working to address the community’s most pressing needs. In addition to funding programs, the United Way provides heating assistance, pre-k educational scholarships, discounted medical prescription cards, and the Success By 6 initiative.
