U-Turn is Right Around the Corner

Re-duce, Re-use & Re-cycle: It’s U-Turn! It’s time for Carlisle’s Largest Community Yard Sale! This event is a great way to support the work done at United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County, while doing something kind for our environment.

Each year, when students vacate Dickinson College, there are incredible amounts of useful new and like-new items placed in dumpsters simply because the students have no way of getting them home.  On-campus U-Turn collection bins help keep great items out of our landfills and gives them a second chance. Plus, all proceeds from the U-Turn sale go to the 2013 United Way Campaign – benefiting our 27 partner agencies and their 40 programs!

There are three easy ways to get involved and help out your community:

Come SELL your stuff! Are you spring cleaning and getting rid of unwanted items?  Well, one person’s trash may be another’s treasure!  Why not capitalize on our traffic and sell your stuff?  Vendor spaces are offered for you to have your garage sale in our garage!

Come HELP! We need a great deal of community support to pull off an event like this.  Volunteers are needed June 12th, 13th & 14th between 9 am-7 pm each day for unloading, organizing and setting up. If you have a few free hours and you want to do something nice for your community, or you are a student in need of some service hours, consider spending some time with us one of those days!

 Come SHOP!

Trying to furnish a home or apartment? Have a child going off to college? Come shop through thousands of items donated by Dickinson College students as they clean their dorms and return home for the summer. Shop anytime between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 15th. If you’d rather beat the crowds, you can pay a $5 early bird fee and arrive at 7:30! While we never know what we will get, we can tell you there are some great bargains to be had. Items in the past have included: furnishings, clothing, electronics, household supplies, and more!
