GLEE-valuation!
By Hannah Bourdon, CHS Intern.
On Saturday, April 20, the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County held their third annual M&T Bank Regional Glee Competition. The event came and went with flying colors. It consisted of a capella arrangements presented by 17 different choral groups from 3 different states, including two of Dickinson College’s own a capella groups, The Octals and The Syrens, both of which, took first place in their categories. The music varied from Barbershop Quartets and High School choirs to College a capella clubs. The night was split into two sessions, the 1st session consisted of Barbershop Quartet and Adult Ensemble a capella. Gents Night Out placed first for the Barbershop Quartet and Keystone Capital Chorus placed first in the Ensemble a capella Category and was the overall winner for the 1st session. Session 2 was entirely college a capella. The Dickinson College Syren’s placed first for the College Female Category. Stockton University, Stockapella placed first for the College Co-ed Category. The Dickinson College Octals placed first in the College Male category and also 1st overall for the 2nd session. The array in music styles including: scottish folksongs to modern pop music, provided for a wonderful, family-friendly night. The night was met with an exceptional turn out and rave reviews from community members and performers alike. Overall, the event raised over $6,000 for our United Way Campaign.
Again, we thank our Sponsors M&T Bank, Red 102.3 and ABC 27!
