Gifts that Give Wrap Up
The United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County Student Leadership Council, Kohl’s and the Women’s Leadership Council held the 2nd Gifts that Give on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the United Way of Carlisle & Cumberland County office located at 145 South Hanover Street in Carlisle.
86 children were able to come and pick out free gifts for their mom, dad, stepmom, stepdad and grandparents if they also lived in their homes. Sherrie L. Davis, United Way President & CEO, states “It was so wonderful to see the smiles on all of the children as they had a chance to pick out free gifts for their family so they too had a gift to give.”
The Gifts that Give event was held to help local homeless children and very low income children identified by local schools to have a chance to choose a free gift for their mom and/or dad this holiday season. Many times at the holiday there are many organizations and companies who graciously give gifts to local homeless and low income children but the children usually don’t have a gift that they can give to their mom and/or dad at the holidays. This program allows them to have a gift to give too. Thank you to everyone who helped to make Gifts that Give a success.
